Every time I recall moments with my father, I hear his “still small voice” speak to me with a tenderness and care that is beyond words; it’s his love embracing me with the warmth that flows from his heart.
For a friend of the Beacon, Donna Shudde, her Daddy continues to provide comfort and “through different moments of experiencing my earthly father’s love, I am given a taste of the magnitude of our heavenly father’s love from his heart.” From her first memories as a child, Donna has been surrounded by the melodies and harmony of music. Taking many road trips with her family, she experienced the Southern Gospel Music business first hand. As her father slowed down and became an evangelist, Donna discovered that “she would always be doing something in music.” This is Donna’s way of continuing her and her father’s passion and legacy.
Breaking into the music business is more than knowing the right person or having that heavenly voice or guitar skill, it takes perseverance and patience. Donna Shudde’s story of becoming the founder of her own Music Promotion company, Breakout Promotions, is a story of walking with Jesus step by step. Donna started out doing anything and with the help of her father, worked for a record company in Nashville learning the ropes of operating and managing in the business.
Falling in love and moving to Austin, Texas, gave Donna and her husband the opportunity to start their own management company. They worked together to help two Texas Christian artists get started. There were ups and downs with this venture, but after much prayer and soul searching, Donna came “home to San Antonio” with her family right by her side.
Today, Donna is a mother of three girls, an active sister at Community Bible Church and a servant to many of our Christian artists producing events and concerts for the San Antonio community. She credits all her success to her “fathers and her husband.” Her passion is “to minister to the community through music and help with their needs, but it’s ALL about glorifying Jesus.” “When you mix ministry, the arts and business, you want to be in balance like a triangle where you are maintaining the purity of each one as the Spirit guides.” From her first show in San Antonio almost 5 years ago, Donna Shudde is making an impact on San Antonio that is reaching many lives for our Lord. One of Donna’s most memorable blessings culminated in the Chris Tomlin concert at Municipal Auditorium in February 2009.
After working over 2 years to bring Chris to our community, that night was so special because it became all about worshipping Jesus. The love, the pouring out of the Spirit and the beautiful singing of music in different languages from a mix of faithful believers…it took her breath away. This gave Donna a true glimpse into the heart of “our Daddy” because where there is worship for Jesus, there our Abba’s heart is.
